Who we are

Petari is published by GIT Consulting and Services Inc. Contact gmohareb@gitinc.ca for support or privacy enquiries. This policy covers Petari's Android release with local record storage, automatic care planning, and this public information site.

This version contains no ads, requires no Petari account and does not automatically upload private pet records to Petari cloud services.

Records on your device

Pet profiles, care schedules, notes, selected photos and attachments are stored in Petari's private app storage on your device. Android automatic backup for Petari is disabled. Cloud synchronization and import/restore are not available in this version.

Records remain on the device until you remove them or app storage is removed. Uninstalling Petari, clearing its storage or losing the device can permanently lose records. Export important records and save attachment copies separately.

You can delete individual records or use Device storage & privacy > Delete local records. Copies you export or share are separate from Petari's private storage and must be managed wherever you save or send them.

Shared care templates

Petari includes a small public reference catalogue of dog and cat care templates. Named, unlisted and mixed breeds reuse general species guidance; age, breed or region additions can apply where published. The app calculates dates from your pet's birth date or locally confirmed care dates on your phone. Current bundled rules are care-review prompts, not a veterinarian-approved vaccination prescription. Unknown history is not treated as missed treatment. Your private pet records are not stored in this reference catalogue.

In About Petari, Check for template updates explicitly downloads the same public catalogue for everyone from our GitHub Pages site. The request contains no pet name, breed, birth date, medical history, selected region, microchip, owner identity or attachments. GitHub receives ordinary connection information such as your IP address and request metadata under its privacy policy. No catalogue update request is made automatically when adding a breed or pet.

Validated catalogue updates are cached on the phone for offline use. Invalid or unavailable updates leave the last usable catalogue in place. Updates apply to new care plans and do not overwrite existing schedules, owner edits or completed vaccinations. Saved plans retain source and catalogue-version information. Optional care-region selection and confirmed care dates remain on the phone.

New reference content may be drafted with AI in a separate editorial workflow and reviewed before publication. Such drafts do not use owner pet records and are not automatically published as medical rules. No Supabase connection or additional online AI provider is enabled in this app version.

Automatic care planning

Petari selects the care-planning method automatically. Owners are not asked to choose AI, a provider or a local planner. This version creates care calendars from shared templates entirely on your phone and sends no pet profile to an online AI provider. The calendar works offline and has no AI-provider country restriction. It creates editable care-review prompts, not a prescription or veterinarian-approved treatment schedule.

New generic reference content may be drafted using AI in an internal editorial workflow. This workflow does not receive owner pet records. Drafts require review before publication; missing breed names reuse species guidance rather than triggering an online request from the app.

Suggested entries and source metadata are saved in app-private storage. Entries are added as pending reminders, not completed treatment. Advanced review keeps suggestions as a draft until you confirm adding them. Owners can edit names, dates, categories, repeat intervals, descriptions, notes and completion details. Confirm treatment timing with your veterinarian and record whether a vaccination was actually given and its actual date. Saved plans are reused without a new request.

Earlier test versions offered optional Google Gemini requests after explicit consent. Existing saved AI plans remain on your phone and can still be viewed and edited. Removing provider selection does not delete past data retained by Google under its policies. The current calendar-creation screens do not send new Google Gemini requests.

Clinic search and maps

Clinic discovery needs internet. When you enter an area phrase and tap Find area, Petari sends that phrase to the public Photon search service. If you choose Use my location, Android asks for approximate foreground location permission. You can decline and use manual search instead.

When you request clinics, Petari sends rounded area coordinates, the selected radius and a veterinary category query to Photon. Viewing the map sends tile requests identifying the viewed area to OpenStreetMap's tile service. Providers also receive ordinary connection information, including your IP address and the app's request identification. Private pet records, photos, documents and account credentials are not included in these requests.

Search state and bounded caches are held in app-process memory. Cached results can be reused for up to 24 hours. Entries remain in memory until replaced or the process ends and are not saved across process death. Clear area removes screen search state rather than the shared cache. Third-party providers apply their own retention and privacy practices; Petari does not control their server logs.

Optional permissions and external actions

Approximate location is optional and used for a foreground clinic search. Notification permission is optional for care notifications. You choose which photos and documents to attach using Android's system pickers.

Exports go to the destination you select. A cloud document provider receives an exported file if you choose that provider. Record-summary exports exclude photo and attachment bytes; attachment copies are saved separately. Exported or shared copies are outside Petari's local deletion controls.

Directions, calling, source links and sharing open the browser, dialer or recipient you choose. Those services have their own data practices. Emailing support sends the information you choose to include through your email provider.

Public website and support enquiries

The public privacy/support site is hosted on GitHub Pages. It has no Petari advertising, analytics scripts, sign-in forms or tracking cookies. GitHub receives normal website requests and handles connection information under its own privacy statement.

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include so we can respond to your enquiry. Do not email passwords, signing keys or identity documents. We retain support correspondence while it is needed to address the enquiry and any applicable recordkeeping obligations; contact us to request access, correction or deletion. We may need to retain information where required by law.

Security and your choices

Petari uses Android app-private storage and HTTPS for its public data requests. Protect access to your device and to files you export. No storage or transmission method is guaranteed to be completely secure.

We do not sell your private pet records. You can decline optional location and notification permissions, delete local records, manage exported copies and contact gmohareb@gitinc.ca with privacy questions or requests. We do not hold an automatic Petari server copy of your private pet records.

Policy updates

Adding advertising, analytics or cloud features requires a later app release and updated disclosures. Any required permissions or consent must be obtained before those features are enabled. We will update the effective date when this policy changes.
